16-ounce can purchased at The Beermongers in Portland, OR. Date stamp reads "07/03/25 BANGARANG!" Enjoyed in a nonic half-pint glass.
Hetty Alice DDH Pale isn't hazy, but it isn't perfectly clear either. The pale yellow-gold body displays the slightest glow of haze. On top there's a creamy head of foam that dissipates quickly and doesn't leave much lacing. The nose starts with ruby red grapefruit pulp and then shifts into nectarine, berries, a bit of tropical diesel, and something dusty. The flavor leads with a cocktail of slughtly underripe stone fruits, not too sweet. Through the middle it opens up like someone scored a big hit on a piƱata filled with melon balls, grapefruit pith, orange marmalade, and a handful of lime Skittles. There's a good hop bite with moderate bitterness in the finish. Malt is restrained, though a toasty note wafts through under the hops. Light-medium body with energetic carbonation and high crushability.
This is a terrific pale ale. File it under "I shoulda bought two." Would definitely drink again.
