Pint consumed at Uprise.
Dark brown, virtually black, with a good sized off-white head that dropped after a few minutes down to a thin ring, leaving lots of lace.
Roasty dark malt aroma. I got hints of coffee and dark fruits.
Tasted pretty much like it smelled. Roasted dark malt flavor up front, giving off notes of coffee. In the background, a faint taste of something hinting at figs. Vaguely crisp at the swallow.
Body somewhere between light and medium, with a clean finishing mouth feel.
Really nice Czech Dark Lager. There's enough of these being brewed locally now that I'm thinking of acquiring several and doing a head-to-head comparison. I suspect this one would acquit itself well. Uprise continues to be a brewery to watch.
