This stout is made in the classic English style with rolled oats.
A prolonged mash and easy boil brings out the character of the
roasted barley and black malt with a hint of coffee liqueur.
A lighter style stout with a full and silky mouth feel delivers a
satisfying and perplexing ale.

This was purchased at the source in January 2026 and drunk in March of that year.
L: Utterly black, with a tight, mocha-coloured head that recedes to a thin layer covering the entire beer. Sediment can be seen at the bottom of the glass, hanging motionless because no bubbles are rising.
S: Roasty, rich and earthy, with a touch of the Fisherman's Friend lozenge's coffee/menthol/cough syrup/eucalyptus note. Quite alluring and very stout-like.
T: The taste is thick, rich, acrid, and, like the nose, very much similar in taste to a Fisherman's Friend. No-one actually likes Fisherman's Friends, but they're very alluring and moreish, even though you initially regret it each time you put one in your mouth. It's that combination of cough syrup, eucalyptus, ash, and - oh my God, I finally realised it once it was mentioned to me - licorice! Yes, it's licorice and Eucalyptus, and that's the perfect description for this stout. It's so weird, so harsh, yet so tasty! The finish is dry and abrupt.
M: Like any good stout, it's rich and full. There's minimal carbonation and a slightly higher carbonic kick.
O: This should be a flavour combination that questions why we drink beer, but my God, this is good!
Cheers!
