Based on the local fare of Gloucestershire UK, this ESB is well balanced with bitterness slightly dominating over an earthy hop presence. A creamy and soft caramel sweetness finishes with mineral dry notes. Great all year round.

Purchased at the source in January 2026 and drunk in March that year.
L: Muddy brown, with an initially tight, inch-high, bright-white head that quickly subsided to a thin covering. No carbonation is seen in the glass, and clumps of caramel coloured sediment hang motionless as a result. It's not a pretty beer to look at...
S: Rich malt, sweet vanilla, bitter dark chocolate and roast.
T: The taste is malty, bitter, burnt toast. A rich yet sweet caramel note follows before bitterness reasserts itself with an astringent, burnt kick. The finish is dry, but bitterness lingers at the sides of my tongue long after the swallow.
M: Carbonation is solid, and the beer feels full and smooth in the mouth, but there's no carbonic kick on the swallow, and that leaves the beer feeling incomplete as you finish each mouthful.
O: This is an ok ESB that is let down by a less-than-inviting appearance and a little flabbiness in the mouthfeel. The bitterness and richness of the taste profile try hard to make up for those shortcomings.
Cheers!
