Pours an unfiltered straw color with a pillowy, fluffy white head that looks like clouds on a sunny day. Beautiful wheat beer.
The nose is dominated by tropical citrus aromas, and there’s also a whisper of banana and clove to stick to the hefe style. Very nice.
The taste is likewise led by the tropical citrus flavor, and it works surprisingly well with the bit of banana and clove that’s in the background. Really tasty stuff.
The mouthfeel is bright and effervescent, making for a refreshing hefe. I was curious how this would turn out, and it surprised me - it’s an adventurous, flavorful take on a hefe that I’d eagerly try again.

Poured into a weizen glass. Pours a moderately hazy, light golden amber with a fine, two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of wheat malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, grapefruit, lemon, mango, green melon and cinnamon; fruity. Flavor is heat malt, citrus, piney and tropical fruit hops, grapefruit, lemon, mixed tropical fruit, black pepper, hints of pine and spices. Nicely bitter wheaty finish. Medium bodied with light to medium creaminess. Well, when you get a "hopfenweissen" from Bizarre Brewing, you can guess it's not your German father's hefeweizen. And with this you'd be right. On the other hand, it's a pleasant, well hopped wheat beer with an interesting hop profile. Not quite as tropical as the label suggests, but there are definite Southern Hemisphere tropical fruit notes as well as citrus, spice, melon and even a little pine. Although busy, I liked the hop flavor mixture and appreciated the solid bitterness in the finish which was closer to a pale ale than a weisen (or even an American wheat ale). Uncategorizable, but tasty. I'd get this again, but as a more interesting wheat ale, but not if I was in the mood for a hefeweizen. Enjoyable.

Cloudy grayish yellow with adequate foam in the goblet. Aroma is faintly lemony but certainly no spice or banana. Prickly mouthfeel is fine. But this is quite murky in taste, with the yeasty flavor not helped by the bitter hops. There is a faint sweetness that fades away to leave the woody and astringent aftertaste. It's hard to know how to categorize this. It's almost entirely unlike a Hefeweizen, but no other category accounts for a "Tropical Hopfenweisse" as the label notes. From the 16 oz can purchased at Town & Country market. Dated 09/08/23.

Poured from 16oz can into my Bell's tulip. Canned 1/6/23; the label calls this a "tropical hopfenweisse ale".
Appearance: light golden hue with a moderate haze and a finger of frothy eggshell foam, which leaves a nice lace on the glass. Pretty!
Smell: tropical, juicy, grassy hops -- almost like noble hops on steroids. Perhaps even a bit of wheat comes through. Not a traditional hefeweizen, but it's good!
Taste: wheaty malt along with a lemony, grassy character. It's definitely got an antipodean hop vibe going on. There's a little bit of sharpness to the whole thing that detracts a bit, but still, it's an interesting and tasty beer.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: this is a tasty an interesting beer. I'd probably call it an American Pale Wheat Ale before I'd call it a Hefeweizen, given its distinctly non-traditional flavors. But still definitely a tasty an interesting beer, worth checking out.

Fruity, hoppy, slightly sweet. I guess it's a hefeweizen (the brewery calls it a hopfenweisse). Unusual and pretty good.
