Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Label calls this an "English-style buckwheat bitter ale".
Appearance: dark orange hue with a little dash of haze and a thick finger of frothy ivory foam with a bit of an orange cast. Nice!
Smell: malty with quite a lot of toasty, biscuity quality and a little bit of earthy hops. Not bad.
Taste: biscuity malt with what seems like a musty hop character. Kind of remind me of a "wet-hop" beer. Not terrible, but it just seems kind of musty and muddled to me.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a light carbonation. Not super creamy, but I think they're going for a cask ale type of carbonation here.
Overall: the flavor of this beer just doesn't greatly appeal to me. It's not bad or anything, but it's just kinda musty for my taste.
