This German-style altbier was brewed in collaboration with Here Today Brewery, using red corn masa harina from Masienda. We brewed with a base blend of German pilsner, Munich, and caramelized Munich malts. We hopped this altbier with Sonnet and Hallertau Mittelfrüh. The Red Clock was then open-fermented cool with our house kölsch strain.

Clear dark brownish amber with off-white foam in the Copper Kettle goblet. Grainy aroma. Pleasant sudsy mouthfeel. This has that interesting musty flavor I encounter in some Altbiers. I think of buckwheat. Virtually no sweet taste but the corn comes through. Quite bitter finish and I don't think that goes so well with the dry and mineral flavors. Even an aspirin note. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Date stamp not legible.
