great beer, man bizarre is already killing it, this is so good, unique pale ale done with fir tips and branches and a range of cool northwestern hops including mosaic, cascade, simcoe, and chinook lupomax, modern and crushable, i need a lot more cans of this one, one was not enough! the infusion of the fir makes it super woodsy, gin-like, spruce and green pinecone forward, fresh and interesting, and the hops make it bold without being too intense, although this does have a wintery sort of vibe about it. light golden color, bright but with less than full clarity, and a bubbly lasting white head that almost looks can conditioned to me. the nose is epic, the fir is really prominent, fresh and obvious, with notes of lemon and grapefruit from the hops right there with it, along with a seemingly high alpha bite and some of that classic cascade character, but also well balanced by a a subtly complex grain bill which includes some european malts. the flavor is similar, resplendent freshness and its lighter than it seems like it even could be with this much going on, its so cohesive and drinkable, all the intangibles are here, and it ends up being a total pounder even though its also intriguing and one of a kind, i love it. the quality is off the charts, even without the fir element, which makes it stand out, and i love it being a pale not an ipa, it walks the line with intensity but not on bitterness, its restrained there. the fir adds amazing pungent oily thing, plays so well with these selected hops, and the lupomax brings an up front balance and brightness to this without it ever getting green or oversaturated. a little something from the yeast too, minerality, lemon lime soda, way back but also cohesive. rushing carbonation, dry finish but a nice earthy contribution from the malt too, superb balance. i beer i adored, and one i pray i get to drink again. a top pale ale ive had in all of 2024, world class though and through!
