Stranded in the Mystery Zone is our triticale schwarzbier brewed in collaboration with our friends at Chuck’s Hop Shop. Stranded in the Mystery Zone was brewed with German pilsner, Munich, caramunich, pale chocolate and triticale malts. Our triticale Schwarzbier was hopped in the kettle with Hallertau Mittelfrüh and Tettnang then fermented cold and naturally carbonated with our house lager strain.

Poured from 16oz can into a glass mug.
Appearance: nice dark brown hue with just a little bit of haze and a finger of tan foam atop. Looking good.
Smell: a rich chocolatey malt aroma with a dash of caramel and just a little bit of roasty astringency. I dig it.
Taste: a little bit sweeter than suggested by the aroma, but this complements the chocolate well. There's perhaps a little bit of vegetal flavor from the hops toward the end, as is common with a lot of dark beers, but nevertheless this is quite tasty.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: I just love Bizarre's commitment to sub-5% beers, and this is just another example of the great work they're doing with such beers. I could quaff these all day long.
