Taster flight at brewery. Hazy golden pour, wispy head, spotty lacing. Faint fruity aroma, tropical and citrus. Tropical fruit takes over in the taste, minor zesty notes at the finish.

Perhaps even lovers of traditional IPAs may, on occasion, want just a little less. A session IPA? Let's see. Two twelve ounce cans were entirely emptied into a clear glass liter mug. It's color has more copper in its amber than the adjunct lagers of today. It is bright and relatively translucent, with a modest just-off-white head. To smell, it's almost as hoppy, but not nearly as malty as the traditional offerings within this style. Despite an obviously lacking starchy backbone, to taste, there is a whole grain biscuit-like character that's pleasing. Many session IPAs compensate at the taste level by overly hopping. Not here, as the hops are in near perfect balance with what malty backbone there is. This is like a good standard IPA, just scaled back in proportions. At this level, there's no reason to attempt to discover taste nuances, nor transitions. This is merely an IPA light and it's a good one.
