It looks like a well carbonated commercial American Lager sitting inside a clear glass liter mug. Entire contents of a pint can now emptied, the light and bright amber color is observed. It's nearly translucent. There was a modest white head produced by the pour, but it left quickly, without lacing. There's much more hop bite to the aroma than from any adjunct lager. To taste, a nice malty backbone appears which stands up to the hops until the finish. Apparently, Cold IPAs are a hybrid between lager and ale, perhaps in the tradition of Kolsches. This drinks more like an ale than a lager, but a little lighter. Yet the body stays rich and provides a smooth mouthfeel. Hoppier than most lagers, it never gets to the stark bitterness of a West Coast IPA. Overall, this is a very drinkable brew with just enough flavor to satisfy those that like IPAs, but moderate enough for many other beer lovers.
