Very dark, almost black color with some lighter brown around the edges. No head, kinda disappointing there. A few bubbles, that's it.
Not much smell, but what's there is faint malt and a hint of smoke.
Lots of roasty, smokey flavor. Some char. Clearly malt forward, maybe some licorice or anise. Slight coffee taste.
Feels slightly thick. Lots of smoke and burnt feel. Char and bitterness throughout. Not much hop presence, though I think the smokiness kills it.
Overall, it's one of their better beers. It could stand a bit more sweetness, but a good smoked beer nonetheless.
