Presentation: Sampled at Fernandes Brewery Tap in Wakefield, West Yorkshire during a lazy Sunday afternoon spent crawling around Wakefield Town Centre. Handpump #1of #6 had a tall rectangular clip with Abbeydale Matins on it, plus a colorful sunrise. Listed at 3.6% ABV.
Appearance: Extremely pale straw body with a fine milky haze that soon settles to reveal a pristine clear body and a sheer bleached white head. Looks weak and wishy-washy yet somehow it retains the appearance of a serious Session ale.
Nose: Floral traits mingle with flowery hops and a gentle herbal finish. Bitterness and lots of fresh harvested aromas. Medium strength with some perfume aspects, but very nice nonetheless.
Taste: Enticing with a refreshing awakening entrance. Floral hops and citric lemon hints back-up the medium Mouthfeel to make for a quaffable brew. That first sip soon becomes a slugging multi-swallowing thirst quenching slakes; a whole third of the Pint disappeared. Easy to sink but each mouthful always refreshes the palate with a sense of purpose and a lovely flowery Liberty hop bitterness. Very clean.
Mouthfeel: The carbonation is above average in feel but soft in texture, the nature is of a finely tuned Cask Ale on form, I noted that this was only added to the Pumps the day I was here. Fresh.
Drinkability: A simply amazing Session Ale, one of a huge slosh of pale Golden cum Blonde Ales that are bucking the trend of the old-fashioned copper colored Bitters in the UK. This has floral hops and a healthy does of them for a 3.6% brew, but they are balanced by a superb fruity finish.
Overall: Bloody Gorgeous, a superb hoppy pale Sessionable Ale that will see you through the afternoon, evening and night-time and even until the Matin with no problems. The American Liberty Hops really make this brew a classic.
Line em up again!!! Recommended.
