One of the world's longest standing Black IPAs. Brewed using 6 different malts including chocolate malts, black malts and roasted barley. Generously hopped with Cascade and Green Bullet. Flavours reminiscent of bitter chocolate, fruitcake and raisins, with beautiful aromas of coffee, pine, and burnt toast. A beast of a brew! 4 time Gold Medallist at the CAMRA Champion Beer of Yorkshire awards (2017, 2015, 2011 and 2009) and winner of the Speciality IPA category at the SIBA North East Bottle & Can Awards 2022... then at the SIBA National Bottle & Can Awards 2023, where it also scooped OVERALL CHAMPION!

Frederiksberg 20/3 2024. 40 cl from tap at Tap 21, H. C. Ørstedsvej, Frb. C.
Pours opaque dark brown with a mid-sized off-white head. Stable. Settles as 0,2 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Massive lacing.
Aroma is moderately intense with a sweet, toasted, malty odor mingling with a more subtle scent of citrus fruit. Sweet dark malts, toasted bread and a whiff of toffee. Grapefruit and lemon.
Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lively and tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed and balanced by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a more subtle sweet undertone. Lingers for a bit. Finish is a bit dry.
Decent Black IPA.
