Pours a pitch black coloration with a medium, creamy, mocha-colored head. Smells of rich caramel malt, chocolate and hints of coffee and oaky tannins. Taste is dominated by rich, caramel malt, chocolate and a strong presence of slightly tart earthy, oaky tannins, as well as hints of red/dark fruit, vanilla and licorice. Finishes rather sweet, with a light tartness and some chocolate and oaky tannins lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a rich body and light carbonation.
Quite an interesting, probably red wine barrel-aged, Stout with a distinct presence of earthy, oaky tannins and rich caramel malt and chocolate notes, creating a good balance between tartness and sweetness, with very little bitterness coming through though.
