16oz tallboy can purchased at the Scale House Market, in Spokane, WA, for $5. No freshness date.
Poured into a nonic pint glass, this was a very dark brown, virtually black. Took on a dark mahogany hue when held up to direct light. Big, creamy looking, mocha colored head. Lots of lace.
Roasty, dark malts aroma, with overtones of coffee and cocoa.
Flavor is pretty much the same as the aroma. There's a little bit more depth, and a bit of a more sweet, brown sugary aspect, but they're close.
Mouth feel is a little watery for a stout, particularly one as relatively strong as this.
A decent dry stout. Not sure why it needed to be 6%.
