4 Horsemen (Death) is a collaboration with our good friends from Pompano Beach Brewing Co. We blended our Imperial Stout base with a portion of our Barleywine base and rested this on oak spirals. This beer has an unbelievable amount of character considering it has no adjuncts whatsoever. Complex characteristics of coconut and vanilla from the oak and chocolate, dark fruit, and pastry character from the beers.

Nice viscosity to the pour; dark abyss of deep brown tones. Really nice beige head of foam sits atop the body of the beer with good retention.
New oak and sweet malt on the nose entices the senses. Undertones of smoke follow behind closely, alongside touches of dark chocolate.
The palate surprises with great complexity. Sweet but not overly rich. There’s notes of maple, vanilla, and burnt caramel riding alongside a distinctly even bitterness throughout. On the backend is a touch of torched oak and some lingering esters. Drinks similarly to a high-gravity dry Irish stout.
The palate is smooth and relatively soft. The carbonation compliments, paving the way for a pleasant warmth that lingers well into the next sip.
