NO can date, but picked up at the brewer 2 days ago
Pours a frothy bubbly 1 finger head with fair retention, a bit of lacing, clear copper amber color
Nose brings sweet caramel malt and toasted biscuity bread crust, nutty, more sweet than I expected, also some buttery diacetyl notes, light herbal hops
Taste brings a bit more of the buttery diacetyl as well as a bit of butterscotch, sweet malt, toffee, caramel, a bit nutty, toasted bread crust, fair herbal hops with a light bitterness, semi sweet finish, a bit more hop bitterness
Mouth is med bod, med carb, a bit of slick diacetyl
Overall could be a good beer but seems like it was rushed a bit and didn't finish attenuating, didn't get the proper diacetyl rest or temp control maybe, and honestly a bit too sweet even for a Marzen. Strange they had so many good beers for a while, then this week a few misses. I wonder if something changed.
