Tasted by a half-pint in late May 2007 at the Gardeners Arms, my favourite real ale haunt in Lewes, East Sussex.
A: light amber hue, clear, no foam detected, with low level fizziness; looking o.k.
S: Goldings abound on the nose, apart from that the aroma is a slightly stale, or life-less, with a tad sour-applely in the mixture that is a clear sign of an off-ish cask...
T: a slightly acidic yeasty note creeps up with neutrally-flavoured malts and earthy+floral taste of hops... a mild, much more pleasant, touch of lime and peach-blossom honey develops in the mid-taste, finished with a moderate level of bitterness.
M&D: smooth enough, yet for a summer day the ale comes a bit flat actually; thin-ish bodied, featuring more malts than hops... Overall I can't quite tell whether this ale is meant to be this way or this cask is really off-ish, as my few encounters with other Boggart's beers all give strong hints at a prevalent but immature yeastiness... No harm to try it once in a lifetime.
