Standard brown half-liter bottle with an attractive label featuring a 19th century sailboat cruising down the Volga River. The slogan reads: "From the shores of the Volga - in the heart of Russia." Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 11/1/03, I opened it on 8/27.
Pours a decent clear but bubbly gold under a thin, fizzy white head that disappeared faster than the Volga flows towards the sea. The nose was mild and malty, while the mouth was even and not over-carbonated. The taste is pretty bland, nothing bold at all: a little malt, a touch of hops, a bit of sweetness, a tinge of metal. Pretty boring, actually.
