In the analog age of music, artists recorded take after take, experimenting with new sounds until a great record emerged. Our Alternate Takes series offers a peek into our iterative creative R&D process, where each batch is celebrated as its own off-centered hit.

For Alternate Takes #1 we've brewed a Double IPA with Centennial, Warrior, and Idaho 7 hops. With a deep golden hue, you're greeted with notes of tropical fruits in the aroma - pineapple, papaya, and passion fruit - and a malty, apricot sweetness with each sip. Finishing almost tea-like. Citrusy and fruity, this is one quenching IPA.

This is an exceptional beer from Dogfish. Unassuming dark golden pour. Sweet pine mellow smell. Tons of lacing translates to a significant, but not too full mouthfeel. Taste is exceptional. Extremely smooth for a high ABV beer. I'll drink this again. Overall another superb beer from this stellar Brewery.

From the growler, it pours a clear amber with a nice fluffy head. Lacing. Citrus in the nose. The mouth enjoys the balanced hop forward (but not overly bitter) malt flavor. Nice!

On-tap 6/28/2016 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a snifter glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains citrus, honey, caramelized malts and a good amount of hops.

T: The taste starts out very sweet with flavors of tropical citrus fruits and caramel. Then a hearty malt character comes in. The hops presence is mild for the style but is complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while.
