I agree with the hibiscus taste overwhelming this beer. Besides that there is not much else going on for it. This is not something that I would want to drink music to. Besides that there is not much else going on for it. Cheers! C-

Dark red/gold in color with very white head and sticky lacing. Smells light and sweet, citrus, floral and mild hops. The taste is very nice, crisp citrus burst with a semi sweet mix, very mild hops and clean finish. There is a slight sour to this but mild, overall a easy to drink beer with music. I really like this one, just blended right.

A - Dark golden body, very light head.
S - Up front notes of citrus, floral. Not big on the booze.
T - Tart and floral are right there, not sure if I identify it as "kiwi" though. Taste lingers for a bit and doesn't stick around. The alcohol is well balanced, but I don't think that 6.8% is hard to balance.
M - Solid medium body with bit of biting resin, medium amount of carbonation.
O - A good execution of a blonde ale, but I haven't had that meany be a good judge. I'd definitely drink it again but probably not seek it out.

Another good one from Dogfish Head...

A nice orange color, slightly hazy, with a white head, very light and short-lived. The smell is unbelievably good, unbelievably. We are talking about smells of tangerine, grapefruit, and a sweetness that blends well with a hop foundation that is lightly there. Mouthfeel started very carbonated and spicy even, but it then tamped down as it got warmer. The taste was a decent blend of the same fruits and hops that met my nose. It was a good offering from DH.

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery "Beer To Drink Music To '17"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "BOTTLED ON 01/24/17 1030"
$2.17 @ Giant Eagle, Indiana, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: "...brewed with kiwi juice & hibiscus flowers". Moderately hazy golden and orange body beneath a short head of bright white foam. Aroma of citrus fruits, mainly orange. Somewhat floral. The head seems to have held well, it dropped but there's still a solid surface covering and mountains of lace rising up along the inside of the glass. The flavor has a touch of tartness to it that I'll attribute to the hibiscus, and the kiwi comes through clearly. None of the orange found in the nose is present but there is a "tropical" flavor beyond the kiwi. The malt is lightly sweetish and grainy, and supports the fruitiness and subtle tartness. There's not a lot of bitterness to it but there's some, probably around 30 IBUs, and it appears rather abruptly in the finish, with the fruit vanishing to leave the bitterness and residual malt behind. That's not bad, just an observation, and in the end is where you see that it's a blonde ale underneath the fruit. Medium-bodied and delicately crisp. Smooth. That helps with the tartness but then leaves the finish a little dull. It's not bad, it's not great, but there's a lot of potential to it and I hope they take this and push or pull it to change it up into something a little more exotic. Of course that wouldn't sell as well, would it? This is pretty accessible despite the tartness and the bitterness in the end; and it is 6.8% ABV so you get a little bit of bang for your buck.

Beer To Drink Music To '17 Tropical Blonde brewed by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, with an ABV of 6.80% This American Blonde Ale pours out a deep golden amber color with nice white head. Almost has a nice copper tint to it. There is a decent amount of lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell is rich with hop bitterness and sweetness. You also pick up on citrus notes, grains and malts. There is alot going on in the smell of this brew. Between the look and the smell this is really inviting brew. Now for the taste, it is wow. You pick up a nice amount of tart sweetness, hops , grains and malts. The kiwi sweetness is a nice touch to this brew. There is a lot going on in this brew. It is really hard to pick up on the 6.80% ABV in this brew, it is just that smooth. The body of Beer To Drink Music To '17 Tropical Blonde is a soild medium. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it has a super nice balance to it. The mouth feel is Bold, Clean, Smooth , Bitter, Sweet, and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving Beer To Drink Music To '17 Tropical Blonde a 4.50 out of 5. I would look this brew up again givin the chance to. If you are looking for something different, look this one up. Tons of flavors. Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, did a super nice job with this brew.

Beer to Drink Music To pours a reddish color, with a very small, but long lasting and lacing head. Hibiscus comes through. Taste is well put together, nice crisp backbone, notes of hibiscus, and just the tiniest bit if kiwi comes through. Good body and feel. Overall, interesting blonde ale, that is well put together, and on the stronger side.

I always love the "Beer to drink music to" offerings. Love this as well. Pours a rosy amber, the color of a sunset. Smells of fruit: mango, passion fruit, kiwi, strawberry. Taste follows with the slightest hopkick. Light refreshing, not too sweet.

Beer To Drink Music To '17 Tropical Blonde | Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. Poured from the bottle onto a pint glass, the head is two fingers thick, webbed lacing, and a clear appropriately blondish gold body.

I smell the added elements blending greatly with floral hops and brighter grains.

Tastes like the kiwi and hibiscus are doing a top notch job complimenting the hops and grains. So juicy and refreshing.

Medium mouthfeel with mild carbonation.

I'll rate Beer To Drink Music To '17 Tropical Blonde | Dogfish Head Craft Brewery with a 4.5

Bottle poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass while listening to some solid tunes.

A: Pours golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a small island and leaves a little spotty lacing.

S: Floral, tropical and orchard fruit, citrus, bready malt, and honey sweetness.

T: Bright, slightly tart kiwi grabs your attention, followed with floral notes from the hibiscus, some citrus, tangerine and lemon, a hint of apricot, bready malt, and honey sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderately lively carbonation.

O: I wasn't expecting to like this one as much as I do. Nicely done Sam!

L: Clear copper with a big foamy white head. Retention is medium, but lacing is good.

S: Very fruity, well balanced between sweet and tart. Some kiwi pokes through, but the hibiscus really bursts forth with strawberry, honeydew, and even grape-like notes. Smells like nothing but juicy, tart fruits.

T: Tons of kiwi upfront, and then hibiscus pushes through on the back end, complimenting. There's notes of kiwi, blueberry, honeydew melon, watermelon, green and red grapes, strawberry, and passion fruit. There's a nice pop of tartness. There's a touch of biscuity, slightly toasty malt in the middle. Maybe just a touch of grassy, herbal hop character, but almost nothing. Just big, tart, juicy fruit flavors throughout.

F: Medium-light bodied, well carbonated, just slightly dry. Dangerously drinkable at 6.8%

O: An excellent summer fruit beer! I'm loving this!

This is a clear, honey-colored liquid with a medium-sized white head. Lace is just okay. The aroma is full of fruit...flowers and pineapple and melon. The taste has a solid malt flavor, topped with a bit of citric acidity. Complex and interesting, but also a little disjointed. The finish is drier than expected, with a bit of bitterness. Medium in body and worth a try.

Not a bad overall flavor profile, but the fruit adjuncts do not show up much in the aroma or the flavor, and too bitter of a finish to be true to style

Dark gold color with haze. Small to no head resulting in only rim bubbles. Few minute spots for lace.

Floral hop aroma with a light touch on the pale malt.

Solid lightly toasted malt, just enough crystal to make the base similar to a Märzen. The hop is strong enough to place this firmly in the pale ale category. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Definitely more interesting than most blondes.

Pours a nice hazy deep gold. Smells of exotic fruits and berries. The taste is something thrown together hoping it pans out. I get the kiwi flavor but I'm thrown off by various other tastes. Medium body with a healthy amount of carbonation.

= Overall this beer had great intentions but I feel it falls just short of being a unique pour based on the copious amounts of battling citrus I taste.

12 ounce bottle - $2.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a nearly clear, golden body dyed a bit by the inclusion of the hibiscus. Thin, white head.

Smell: It's kiwi and hibiscus with an extra dash of booze sitting atop your everyday blonde ale.

Taste: Golden barley with some initial sweetness and very thin caramel hint about it. Tangy, lightly tart fruity quality from the addition of hibiscus and kiwi fruit. Reasonably light bitterness. Lightly warming on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: It's okay. I would've preferred a lower ABV, though.

12 oz bottle. Not blond in color, but golden amber, with a not-that-long-lasting head. Floral and fruity aroma. Sweet tropical fruit juice character is the strongest note. Floral, rather than citric, hoppiness. From appearance and smell, you'd think this was an IPA on the sweeter end of the spectrum. Bittersweet flavor profile. There's a generic fruitiness to it, but nothing readily identifiable as "tropical." The finish is worth mentioning only because it's notably bland and lifeless.

Like more than a few other DFH offerings, this defies categorization. It's definitely not a blonde ale. It's definitely not that good, either. Skip it.

A: Pours a golden color with a very light reddish-pink hue

S: Tropical fruit up front along with the kiwi and hibiscus. Some light citrus in there as well

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the kiwi, tropical fruits, and hibiscus and moves into some citrus and lighter malt notes. Finishes with lingering kiwi and tropical fruits

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Quite effervescent

O: A nice summer brew that highlights tropical flavors well. Neither the kiwi or hibiscus are overpowering, which is nice. Easy to drink for a 6.8% blonde ale. Worth checking out for the summer

12 oz bottle, had some dating info on the neck of the bottle, but its smudged...

Pours pretty typical looking amber, lightly hazed, moderate khaki cap...leaves low sheeting and bits of lacing.

Fruity hopped up nose.

Fruited up brew, with a sweet streak, also some tea presence....fresh and flavorful..not my favorite style...but this is worth a try

Pours a nice golden color. Fruity aroma. Not much head or lacing but fair amount of carbonation. Tastes of the kiwi juice, some strawberry, a little vanilla. Decent hoppyness with malt sweetness still coming through. Clear alcohol taste surprised me but at 6.8%, maybe not a surprise. I like it but like other "summer" beers better (Oberon still the king).

A clear, orange-tinged deep amber body with a white head, which, while thin, leaves behind substantial lace. The smell is beckoning, with fresh, sweet tropical fruit balanced by a sour spritz of lively citrus. The sourness is stronger in the taste but not at all overpowering. The hibiscus is noticeable and overall, works well within the recipe. The tropical fruit flavors, while noticeable, are overshadowed by an out of place bready maltiness that ultimately kills the dynamic nature at which the aroma had hinted. Moderate carbonation and a medium-light mouthfeel are no more/no less than "fine." Not a bad beer by any means, but definitely not up to par with the majority of Dogfish Head's lineup. I feel like they got lazy with this one. It could have been so much more--the kiwi and hibiscus come forth as little more than whispers as, like a tired pop star on Broadway, a blasé, malty pale ale of average quality phones in the ultimate, and undeserving starring role.
