We look for unexpected flavors in unusual places. For this beer we sourced these crazy peppercorns from Rapti, Nepal that burst with spicy grapefruit aromas and paired them with grapefruit peel and grains of paradise.
Then we amped up the citrus with four Pacific northwest C-hops: Cascade, Comet, Citra and Centennial.
The result is a a hoppy golden ale with bright aromas of grapefuit, citrus and spice. Balanced with malt and hop flavor, 4th & Gold is the audible your taste buds have been waiting for!

Look - poured from a 32 oz can that was canned at the brewery (from tap). Lemon-yellow in color, a frothy head that dissipates quickly, with little to no lacing. appears to be well carbonated.
Smell - a nice balance of malts and hops, albeit light. has a nice bit of spiciness, most likely coming from the peppercorns. quite appetizing.
Taste - for a blonde ale, this is quite hoppy. hop forward, though well balanced with malt flavor towards the middle and end. some citrus flavors, and rounded out by a nice crisp finish. really nice and delicious.
Feel - light bodied, above average carbonation, easy drinking beer at 5% ABV.
Overall - a delicious blonde ale with a bit more hoppiness than the average. the result is crisp, refreshing, but complex. a beer that many can agree to like.

American Blonde Ale?? Well, DFH is rarely traditional but this looks like a NE haze beer. For the style it appears to be, it’s decent: murky yellow/orange/tan with a fluffy head. The head breaks down, though, and ends in a loosely coupled medium ring that leaves spotty lacing.
Nose is orange juice more than peel, through in some other citrus notes of tangerine and grapefruit, and you have a juicy offering.
The scents foretell the taste, with the same citrus juices coming up front. There is a restraining force on them, though, and a bit of crackery malt escapes as the beer dries out a bit by the end of the taste. There’s a neutral, slightly pithy bitterness that comes out as the beer cleans itself up. A grapefruit/spicy hop note starts to grow as the beer warms. Carbonation is elevated but just short of biting. There is a slight lingering tingle, though.
An odd mix that I might argue as a bad NE IPA as it’s too light and not so smooth. But as a blonde ale, it’s ugly and is perhaps a tad too juicy. As a beer, it’s an interesting mix of the two.

On tap at Buffalo Wild Wings in Parsippany. Pours a golden, effervescent hue with moderate frothing. Mellow aroma replete with hints of citrus and grapefruit. Similar overall flavor profile.
