A liquid version of Pumpernickel Bread! This English-style session Brown Ale was concieved of and brewed by our Milton brewer Joseph Lemnah.
Daily Wry was brewed with Maris Otter Malt, a hearty dose of Rye Malt, Crystal Rye and Dark Munich Malt. The grains work together to create a bready, full bodied, almost peppery flavor. Joseph also brewed with a pinch Amber, Coffee and Black Malt adding a toasted pumpernickel bread character. Daily Wry is lightly hopped with Liberty to balance the sweetness of the malts and spiced with freshly ground Caraway seeds to round out the illusion of Pumpernickel bread.

Had on tap at Dogfish Head. The waitress said it was basically a liquid pumpernickel drink.
Ap - Dark brown, approaching black. A slight dusting of tan head on top that left no lacing. Beer is murky in appearance, towards end I notice some sediment at the bottom of the glass.
Ar - Chocolate, coffee, and burnt/roasted aromas dominate. There's a spice to the smell as well but not sure what.
T - Nice balance of sweet and bitter on the tongue. It really does have a bready quality to it, but the primary taste is of burnt grain. The coffee flavors and spicy hop bitterness sit underneath. Finish has a slightly metallic quality.
M - Medium body, not overly carbonated. A pleasant tingle in the mouth. The taste lingers for a while.
D - It was good and enjoyable, but it didn't wow me. Didn't have any trouble getting it down, but I took it kind of slow. I liked it, but wish I had gotten the World Wide Stout instead.

A brewpub exclusive concocted by brewer Joseph Lemnah. Website claims it's a English Brown Ale, but the brewpub stated more as a porter.
Poured a hazy dark brown with lighter brown and red hues in light. Thin tan head has good retention and leaves a little bit of lacing. Smells of coffee, spicy bread, caramel, and anise. Tastes of coffee, peppery spices, and lots of bread in the backbone with a light spicy hop kick in the finish along with a brushing of licorice. Medium in body with nice carbonation. A little mineral tasting in spots, but very hearty and spicy for as low in alcohol as it is. Easy to drink and session, doubt this will last long at the brewpub this winter.
