Decent pale ale. Old school malk backbone with juicy /bitter hop balance.

Quite strange to see a Normal type beer from these guys I'll be honest though you put a skull on the can I will more than likely buy it. Pours a rather hazy pale ale color good head and lacing. Smell and taste are pretty nice couldn't really pick out anything in particular maybe sourdough bread? Mouthfeel on point.

If I can still find it at $2.50 a pounder I might get it again. Other than that I will pass.

This pours a huge whiter head above a hazy golden body. Nose is grainy and malty with grassy hops but nothing terribly pungent. Some bite and a touch of sourness in the bread note and a bit of hoppy dankness showing up in the aftertaste, but just a touch. A little grainier than most pale ales but the texture is thick like a ale. Interesting, if ultimately relatively pedestrian.

A - Hazy light gold with a dense, two fingered head after the pour.

S - Light sticky citrus with some tropical fruit.

T - Stale citrus with light tropical fruit and finishes with a light bitterness and delicate grapefruit.

M - Big medium body with prickly carbonation.

O - Glad to have tried, one is enough.

$5.99 @ Total Wine & More, Claymont, DE

Notes via stream of consciousness: A hazy deep gold body is capped by a finger's width of white foam. It smells like pale ale malt, actual yeast, some apple-like yeast esters, and softly floral and citrusy hops. The flavor follows, and this seems very much like a throwback beer to me. It's very much like the pale ales that were being brewed on the East Coast back in the late 90's except that there's no caramel malt involved. More of the citrusy hops show up, which is nice, but the yeast flavor remains. It's firmly bitter and fairly well balanced. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp. The more that I taste this the more that I think there's some oats in there, and I'm assuming that's adding to the softer mouthfeel. All in all it's an OK beer but there's really nothing special about it at all.

What the hell is a “Maine-Style Pale Ale”? I don’t know or really care, but it’s nice to get something relatively normal from Dogfish Head. I thought this was new when I saw it so I grabbed it, but didn’t realize it was first released about 2 years ago. Let’s see what it’s all about

Pours a somewhat cloudy yellow gold with 3 fingers of soapy off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves minimal lacing

The nose presents a rather nice balance, nothing amazing but I dig it. I’m picking up on aromas of orange zest, crackery malt, mango, grassy hops, white pepper, caramel, and light weed

It’s pretty similar in taste, but with an odd lemonade/tea vibe on the backend that I don’t hate. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting orange zest, bready malt, caramel, grapefruit zest, grassy hops, and light white pepper. The swallow brings notes of earthy hops, crackery malt, lemonade, orange marmalade, weed, black tea, and light white pepper

A light medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a slick and dry beer. Finishes neutral with a firm bitterness

It’s not breaking any ground (and I didn’t expect it to), but I can get down with it

Poured into a grip shaped, wide mouth goblet: color is straw gold with moderate haze but not dense. Head is off white and presents 1/4 inch thick, nice lacing on the glass sides.

Smell is pleasant with notable citrus, lighter tropical notes, but actual malt to balance.

Taste is similar with citrus, pith, tropical fruit blend, notable English malt, light oat and wheat in a bready/crackery way; with some warmth a lighter herbal quality emerges.

Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness with a lingering drying bitterness on the tongue.

Overall a very nice pale ale that leans hazy style but has a malt base that could stand out with just a bit more depth.

Pours a cloudy to hazy golden orange color. A soft looking frothy and pillowy head, about half a fingernail’s length, retains very well.

The nose is fruity, floral and slightly earthy; a unique blend of American and English style aromatics. Notes of orchard fruit, peach, apricot, lemon, grapefruit, grass, and tea leaves.

The taste nicely highlights the fine balance between bready and biscuity malts and yeast and hops spices. Notes of cracker malt, caramel flavored with fruity notes of peach apple, orange and grapefruit. Earthy flavors of grass, tea leaves and floral hops offer a nice counterpoint. An easy going yet assertive bitterness, resiny and herbal, lingers on through the smooth and dry finish.

Medium to light bodied and unbelievably easy to drink. The mouthfeel is ultra smooth and soft. The carbonation is moderate to gentle.

This was wonderful. A finely crafted and delicacy balanced Pale Ale, as well as some nice English flavors. So sad to see this 4 pack finished, as they’re that easy to crush.
