This is a dark wild ale aged in ruby port barrels. Color is a very dark brown to black. Small head recedes quickly with no residual lacing but some visible carbonation. Smell is tart, perhaps sour cherries, but theres a roasty note there too. Interesting. Sourness hits hard but it's just restrained enough to still be pleasant. Roasted notes and a definite port flavor kick in too. This is one of the few sour beers I've tried where I really noticed the barrels this rested in. Ruby port for sure. A little wood flavor too. Perhaps I just need to pay attention more when I taste this style. Anyway, it's complex and quite nice although the wild sourness is certainly the most dominant flavor. Nicely carbonated and medium bodied. The only thing that gets in the way of the drinkability is that very assertive sourness.
