On cask at Dogfish Head Brewings and Eats in Rehoboth Beach, DE.
This one pours a clear golden orange, with a small foamy head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like resinous pine, sweet candied lemon, sugar cookie maltiness, pine, grapefruit, and floral hops.
The cask delivery really helps this beer. It’s got a bitterness, but the smooth creaminess of the cask seems to round off some of those edges. I don’t always like cask, but it really does help with this one. It’s got a super clean piney and floral bitterness to it, with a touch of dank resinous character, with a primarily grapefruit and lemon fruity hop character. There’s just a touch of malt sweetness, but it does not dominate.
This is light bodied, clean, not too bitter on the finish, and very drinkable.
This is much better to my palate than some of DFH’s core IPAs.
