3oz taster pour
DFH Milton, Weekend of Compelling Ales
3/9/13
A: Pours out pretty much pitch black. Thin layer of slightly off white head. Forms a collar around the edges of the glass. Not seeing much by way of alcohol feet, but usually hard with a glass of this size.
S: On the nose, I am getting mostly stout like character: coffee, chocolate, licorice, etc. But you do get some of that spice from the chili too. Being a fan of stouts like this, its welcomed.
T: Much like the nose, you get the traditional stout like character albeit muted. It's not over the top in chocolate or coffee being a sessionable export stout. On that back end of the palate, you get that little hint of those chili. Just nice warm and tingle. I enjoyed this one.
M: It's a medium leading to full. It's nicely carbonated and with the lower ABV it doesn't feel as thick as it is.

Exclusive on tap at the brewpub
Pours black with a tan lacing for a head.
Smells of cocoa, roasted coffee beans and brown sugar.
Flavor is of coffee, cocoa, and a hint of vegetable bitterness and chile spiciness. Also some cinnamon.
Medium body with a light tingle of carbonation mixed with a mild spicy sting.
A good enjoyable stout with an added flair of chile spice. Not fantastic, but better than average and worth having if you can get it while it's on tap.

On tap at the Rehoboth Beach pub, served in pint glass. Beer is black with a thin tan head of small bubbles. Aroma is a little sweet a little spicy, the peppers come through nicely in the aroma. Some roast some malt. The beer isn't as spicy / chipotle as the aroma would lead you to believe and this is a good thing. It is mildly sweet, a little dry on the finish, a nice beer, I enjoyed it. I would even have it again.
