Received from one of my customers on his recent trip up north.
Appearance is good. Deep copper-colored brew that has great head retention off the aggressive pour. Nice lacing.
Smell is above-average. Sweet syrupy malt and earthy smelling hops.
Taste is above-average. Sweet and bready malt flavors. Finishes mildy hoppy and clean.
Mouthfeel is good. On point for the style. Medium to thin body. Mild carbonation.
Drinkability is above-average. Easy to drink one but I'd pass on another.
Overall:
A pretty decent brew but the sweet malty flavor stopped me from loving it. Above average for the style.

Owner and brew master of El Toro assured me this was a great beer, maybe even better than Anchor Seam. I quickly bought a 6 pack. This beer pours a medium amber with an ample white head. Lacing is in nice but scattered patterns. Fresh malt aroma with a touch of hops. Very smooth taste that is malt dominated but has a nice hop balance. Not as hoppy as Steam. as good? it's close. Anchor is such an institution but this is a damm fine beer and deserves a place close to the pioneer. I really like this brew. Very very drinkable.
