neat concept, use social media and online platforms to crowdsource beer ideas and then brew what gets voted on, definitely different. it was a little hard going in here after how much i loved liberati, the last brewery to call this space home. they did everything well, had a very original concept, the place was class, and the beer was always absurd, so i had a little sad nostalgia walking in, and i was surprised to find it lost some of its aesthetic appeal right away, a host stand with a bunch of generic beer merch hanging there right when you walk in, bar and arcade games back to the left, same long bar setup with a ton of taps, and still an epic patio, but it all felt a little rushed and cobbled together, not as intentional and frankly beautiful as it was as liberati. i was impressed with their beer list, a good mix of their own stuff and other crafts from all over the place, some of them quite reputable when i was there. they have an original location in milwaukee, some of their beers here are made there, but i was told they are also brewing some stuff here. i had two beers of theirs, a vanilla wafer porter that was totally diabetic, and a better crafted if generic dortmunder lager, they had a great selection, but these two did little to inspire confidence in their brewing quality. this bar is still awesome, but it felt a bit dumbed down with the full bar setup and the haphazard arrangement. this is two business together, a taco spot operating within the brewery, i didnt eat, nor did i get a look at the food, so will hold judgement on that until next time, if there is a next time. the service was bad, not scoring too low because they were slammed, but everyone seemed both lazy and confused, to a long time to get a menu, even longer to get a drink order in, and then almost impossible to get our check, man they still have quite a bit of figuring it out to do it seems. still tons of potential here, one of the best and largest patios around, and enough taps to have at least some exceptional beer on at all times, but we did not have a great experience here and left rather disappointed, a feeling only exacerbated by missing liberati. so far it doesnt seem like these guys are really contributing anything new to the scene here...
