First let me say that the style was hard to define. It is a wheat beer base, fermented with Belgian yeast, peaches were added, and then it was barrel aged in Whiskey barrels. That is why I went with Witbier as the closest match.
The result has almost a wine-like, cidery quality. I taste the peach, and a bit of the whiskey barrel, but I think the peach is more subtle than others described for earlier batches of this brew. The beer is clear yellow in appearance, like a Chardonay in color. It is finely carbonated. This beer sort of tingles on the tongue.
Where I fault this beer is in the aftertaste. I pick up some weird metallic flavors. They are not so strong to keep me from enjoying the beer, but they are a detraction.
The 9% ABV is amazingly hidden. But I suppose I've had White Wines that were 9% that were not much different. This beer is very wine-like to me. A bit acidic in the aftertaste too.
Anyway, everything from T&M is worth a try. This one is unique. Not in my wheelhouse, but perhaps it will be in yours. Give it a try.
