Here's proof that wheat in the wort isn't the only culprit when it comes to creating excessive foam whist emptying a pint can's contents into a clear glass liter mug. The difference here includes how short-lived it was and that it wasn't seemingly ever-expanding, like can happen with wheat based beers. Quickly, everything has settled to a status quo and there's just a little off-white head on top of a cloudy lemonade looking liquid. There's almost no smell, just very little starch and even less hops. It tastes delightfully more hoppy than the nose said it would. Of course, there's no real complex starchy counterbalance for the hops to compete with, but that doesn’t mean they're not outstanding. It's a piney, clean and dry hop character. Unfortunately, that's the only outstanding aspect of the beer. The only other positive is the body, as it's not as watery as feared. It's light and runs across the tongue easily, but not too thinly. No glass lacing was anticipated, so no disappointment there. Actually, after the first two categories, this comes through with some good scores. The rating formula of Beer Advocate will weigh too heavily on looks and smell, so this one will be underrated because it's good enough within the two categories that matter most.
