What a Funny one - a cheeky blend of sun-ripened mango and silky banana, brightened by tangy passionfruit and lush guava, all tied together with a drizzle of NSW honey. The gentle lactose adds a custardy, pastry-like sweetness, lifting each sip like a perfectly baked fruity masterpiece. This quad-fruited sour delivers just the right mix of juicy brightness and indulgent smoothness while being all that fun, balanced, and impossible to resist-ness we love in those Funny People. Ha ha!

This was a Father's Day gift in September 2025, drunk in November of that year.
If I didn't know I'd just poured this out of a can that clearly stated this beverage was beer, I'd think I was looking at a mango smoothie. So now I'm torn over how to describe this. It doesn't look like a beer in any aspect - not one - but looks exactly as a quad fruited smoothie sour would be expected to look. So I'm going to go good but not great and give it a 4.
It smells like a mango smoothie with a hint of orgeat (almond syrup). I suspect the guava contributes that note, but it also introduces a mild shoe polish aroma, which is not appealing in a beer, even if it would suit a cocktail. This knocks it down a peg for me.
The flavour is all mango, banana, and almond (okay, guava...), with an extra hit of lactose and banana sweetness. The first few sips are enjoyable, but the syrupy sweetness quickly becomes overwhelming. The thick, custardy body makes it a challenge to finish the 440ml can - by halfway through, I was forcing myself to keep going.
M: The body is probably too thick, even for a smoothie sour, likely due to the banana. It’s so heavy, I feel like I’ve eaten a giant bowl of ice cream—and that’s not what I want from a beer, even a smoothie sour.
O: I once described an imperial stout as aiming for extremes and ultimately becoming unbalanced, sweet, and overwhelming—good for a few sips, but a chore beyond that. That’s how I feel about this, minus the alcohol. I wouldn’t go back for another one of these or another smoothie sour. Once is enough for the foreseeable future.
Cheers!
