This aggressively hopped IPA takes it’s inspiration from the dry, hoppy IPAs of the Pacific Northwest and the hops grown in Yakima Valley, WA. Columbus, Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo, Citra, and Simcoe hops combine in an explosion of hop flavors that run the gamut between grassy and floral to piney and citrus. Pale, CaraHell, light Crystal malt, and Munich malts combine with a modest addition of Flaked Rye for a silky mouthfeel and the slightest hint of Roasted Barley to enhance colorin this deep copper colored brew. The Northern Lights (or Aurora Borealis) are a natural display of colorful light which occur when energetic charged particles collide with atoms in the high atmosphere, typically seen in northern latitudes.

There are so many beers that Free State has done over the years. It's a joy finding old notes written on napkins, or on an old smartphone.
I don't remember this beer, but my notes said it was an average IPA, with a really good nose and quite fruity for a Free State IPA. Likely an experiment.
