This is a very light, Bavarian style wheat beer that is an excellent refresher in the warmer months. Hefe Weizen contains nearly 50% wheat malt to give it a light, tart flavor balanced with pale malt and just a bit of Munich malt for flavor and aroma. It is very lightly hopped with Yakima Perle and German Hallertau hops. (O.G. 13.5P/1054. Hops - 14 IBUs)

*From notes
Pours a hazy yellow on tap. Lots of yeast sediment. I love it!
Not bad for an American hefe in the smell department, but it doesn't match Kellerweiss by any stretch. Not nearly the same level of banana and clove.
Taste department does a bit better. It's definitely not an American Pale Wheat Ale, but the banana, clove, and general hefe wheat fruitiness is tamed in comparison to actual hefes.
Mouthfeel is creamy and wonderful.

Reviewed from notes. On tap in August 2009.
Pours a hazy light apricot color with a white head. Starts out at about two fingers but dies down quickly without all that much lace. The nose brings a lot of clove with just a bit if banana. The yeast is a bit more quiet in the taste with a light amount of semisweet malt. Pretty good body and nice drinkability on a hot summer day.

A - Arrived at my table with a small, white, foamy, head. It a bronze/yellow color with a cloudy appearance. Some limited lace.
S- It smelled of banana, clove, yeast and some citrus.
T - It tasted of banana, clove and sweet wheat. It had a slightly bitter kick that took hold at the back of the throat.
M - It was sharp and very crisp. A light bodied beer.
D - This is a great American representation of the hefe style. Easy drinking and delicious.

Pours a cloudy pale orange color with a thin bright white head. I can't speak of the retention as it had already faded by the time it was served (in the dining room not the bar). However, there was some spotty lace upon delivery.
The aroma is awesome. It was like a mixed fruit drink. I got notes of banana and citrus primarily with a bit of spice.
The taste was really nice. More of a mixed fruit juice than the nose even! Notes of banana, orange, and pineapple. There was a very subtle spiciness and a really bready finish. Really quite tasty.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely carbonated. It finished with a great tingle.
The drinkability is fairly high. Great flavor and presumeably low in alcohol this one was a great experience.

Cloudy golden color with a nice big head. Still had a good head even on day two of the growler. Smell is lemons and cloves which pretty much covers the taste as well. Tart and dry with a strong clove taste. Taste of lemons more at the beginning and the clove taste comes on later. Clove aftertaste with some bitterness. I don't really like the bitterness with this style beer. Some banana flavor once the beer warms up more. I really like Hefe Weizen for the banana flavor, so I wish there was more of that here. But, still very drinkable and certainly not a bad beer.

Murky blonde. Thin, but persistent porcelain white head yields tattered lace. Rounded banana esters with herbal clove in aroma along with slight musty yeast. Appetizing. Banana bread sweetness upfront leads into a nutty yeast and clove combination. Spicy, white pepper impression emerges mid palate. Viscous, proteinaceous and creamy in mouthfeel. Spot on. Finishes with a flash of hop bitterness yielding to hints of sweet, creamed banana and grainy wheat tartness. A well crafted, balanced hefeweizen, with understated wheat character. Clean, quaffable and richer than most brewpub examples. Very tasty!
