Hop Picker marries two of Free State's favorite American hop varieties, Centennial and Columbus, in even portions at each step of the brew. From bittering in the kettle to dry-hopping in the conditioning tank, equal parts of these two pungent hops are added all the way through. Balanced with a subdued malt bill made up of American 2-row pale malt, Munich malt and an assortment of light caramel malts for a deep gold color and a nice body to match the hops without overpowering them. (O.G. - 17.5P/1070. Hops - IBUs 78)

Pours into my Duvel tulip with a rich amber/light brown color, very little head. The aroma is pretty pungent which is what I expected. The nose is all hops - dried citrus, notes of pine, and a bit of perfume. Taste starts off with just a touch of malty sweetness at the beginning. That sweetness quickly turns into a earthy, perfumey hop blast. The finish is fairly bitter with a lingering after taste, the malts also make a small appearance. Mouth feel is about right for an IPA.
Overall this is a real nice IPA with all the characteristics you'd expect from an American IPA. I had a couple pints last night at the brewery, they did a fine job of washing down a spicy tuna tartar and a chicken flatua.

Pours a clear amber/copper color with a one inch off white head. Great retention and some lacing.
Nice hop aroma. Citrus and pine with a caramel maltiness in the background.
Taste is great. Citrus hoppiness with a nice bittering bite. Big malt finish, caramel and bread.
Mouthfeel is full bodied with fine bubbled carbonation. This beer is exceptionally creamy.
Drinkability is high. Great flavor, and moderate alcohol. The bitterness will probably wear on you eventually though.
