A special winter offering for 2006. The malt bill is almost entirely pilsner malt with a touch of dextrin malt for extra body and mouthfeel. The hops are domestic Glacier and Sterling. The Glacier adds a clean bitterness to balance the malt and the Sterling adds a wonderfully complex hop flavor and aroma from late additions to the kettle and dry hopping as well. (O.G. - 17.8/1071. Ok, the first review. Had this on my trip back home to Lawrence, KS. It's new and seasonal, I guess.
Pours a deep golden/yellow body with minimal head (nice pour by the bartender). Smell of rich malt and a bit of flower from the hops, a bit unusual for the style.
Taste is clean, sweet and a bit light. The maly sweetness is checked by the hops. A bit of a nut overtone. Finish is cleaner than the taste lets on. A good brew, perhaps the wrong season, though. A little thin.
