A fixture of local watering holes since the repeal of prohibition, this style of easy drinking lager gets an upgrade with an all-malt grist and a hint of hop character from citrusy Comet hops and German Saphir hops. Clean, crisp, and crushable.

(review from December 2018) Extremely delicate & light lager with just enough palate heft to satisfy. Best appreciated on a hot summer day. Goes down fast!

Clear light golden color with a decent and lasting white head.
The aroma is crackers and hay.
The taste is crackers with a hint of lemon, lightly sweet. The finish is somewhat dry with herbal and citrus notes.
The body is light, good carbonation, smooth and very drinkable. Altogether, this is a pretty decent pilsner style lager, tasty and refreshing, should go well with most food, great for backyard barbecue or other warm weather activities, well done.

Free State Lager has a clear, bubbly, golden appearance, with some fine particulate matter and lots of sheet lacing. The aroma is of cracker and grass. The flavor is of some biscuit, some sweetness, and a touch of hop bitterness. Free State Lager is medium bodied, with a creamy mouthfeel. It has a mostly-dry finish.

Golden with a white head. Aroma of malt with a slight sweet smell. This pilsner is crisp and light and has a little bit more of a sweet or honey flavor than most. Good

Pours a translucent golden-straw with a finger of white foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is pilsner, crackery, wafery malts, dry spicy and herbal hops with the distant smell of freshly stacked hay. There is a dash of citrus, as if the thin strip of orange peel was rung out over the nose. Flavor profile is crackery, bready, biscuity malts for a doughy base. A little yeast smooths and sweetens, with hops closing it out. Hops are lightly spicy and citrusy. It's mild, but with a pleasant subtle twang. Mouth feel is lightly crisp, with the yeast softening the edges. It has a medium-thin consistency. Overall, subtle, but dynamic, all within a refreshing package. Well crafted lager for enjoying slowly or quickly in quantity.
