Appearance
Deep garnet--very attractive; the depth of color is indicative of it's deep flavor
Smell
Spicy Simcoe hops dominate here in a big way; I wasn't expecting nearly this big of an aroma, especially this hoppy of one. Nice!
Taste & Mouthfeel
Crisp, spicy hops mingle with toasted grains, making for a bold flavor; there's almost a cinnamon-like quality here, reminding me of a fall spiced cider; fruity flavors, caramel, and a bit of raisin round out the profile; body is low-medium, helping to keep this potent ale drinkable
Overall
Cimarron Red is another testament to the high level of craftsmanship and variety at Free State. This is one not to be missed. My only mini complaint is that I think it would be better appreciated during the cool fall, not in the heat of August, as it's just a bit too big for summer refresher.
