From the web site: This brown-colored German ale is a double strength version of the classic Altbier and benefits from extended aging prior to filtration. The resulting beer exhibits hints of chocolate, herbal hoppiness, and clean malt bitterness.
O.G. - 18.7/1.075
Hops - 72 IBUs
ABV. - 7.9
---
Appearance
A shade darker than a brown ale. Nice full head.
Smell
Not a lot going on at all. Just faint malt hints.
Taste & Body
Full-bodied with a silky texture; a fairly hefty beer. Surprised by the pronounced bitterness (72 IBUs explains it) and the lighter malt character. Hops seem Noble in nature, with a lingering bitterness that reminds me of Tucher's Pilsner hop character. Malts are bready, toasty, and a bit chocolatey.
Overall
A good take on an amped up version of a German classic. High drinkability for a strong beer.
