Sever from Lolev Beer. 16 fl oz can from M & M Beer, Hermitage, PA. Picked up 10/01/26, in reefer at distributor. $ 5.75 (including tax) ($ 0.359/fl oz). Reviewed 21/01/26, review 3678. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on can bottom “CANNED ON 09/17/27.” Stored at home at 40 degrees F. Served at 42.6 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 49.8 degrees F.
Appearance – 4
First pour – Amber Brown (SRM 18), translucent.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same with light penetrating at the edges, red-amber.
Head – Average (Maximum 1.4 cm, aggressive center pour) Caramel lightening to sandy tan as it oxygenates, high density with short retention, falling to an undulating 0.15 – 0.2 cm crown fed by spotty carbonation and a thin partial cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4 – Coffee with an underlying vegetal note. No hops. No alcohol (5.7 % ABV as marked on the label).
Flavor – 3.75 – It begins bitter with roasted malt and coffee. No hops, no pumpkin. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ends bitter and dry. No gastric warming.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium: Dry: Soft but lively carbonation.
Style: Follows the vague BA style description.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 Uncredited label art. Unfortunately, any pumpkin is overpowered by the coffee. Fortunately, no “pumpkin spices.” Interesting take on pumpkin beer styles.
