Was at a friend's house and near the brewery so thought i'd stop by for a pint. I originally ordered the IPA, they were out so had the pumpkin ale.
Received my ale in a standard pint glass and i have to say, quite a nice color to it. A vibrant and rich mohogany copper color lit my glass up when i held it to the light. A smallish cream of wheat colored head capped the top and lasted about 8 sips into my pint.
Aroma was quite faint and too subtle. It was a detectable pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon and that was about it... like it was an after thought.
Unfortunately the aroma paired well with the insipid taste which was of bitter raw nutmeg without enough malt backbone to carry it nor of the right blend for lack of better words. It was like spices were thrown in just for the sake of it. No lasting power and just no taste at the end... quite fleeting in fact. The body was quite light on the tongue and disappeared quicky with a light dry finish.
This brewery seems to have potential and i'd really like to see them hit the mark. Unfortuneately i dont think this beer does.
