Pours a surprisingly dark orange with a bit of brown to it. Maybe a slight bright gold sheen to the edges. Darker than expected.
Smells maltier than expected. And the hop presence is pretty muted. None of the crisp, sharly defined citrus/bitter/pine aromas I crave.
Taste is fairly muddled. Some general bitterness, a harsh, solvent-y aftertaste, maybe a tad of sweet grainy malt. Really not well put together.
I am so sick of Orange County breweries/brewhouses not being able to at least present a decent product. I'm not looking to put Russian River out of business, just give me something palatable.
