On-draught @ The Beer Bar, Sydney.
3.5% pale ale hopped with Cascade and Galaxy.
Soft, coating, wet, not unrefreshing.
Not getting the passionfruit from the Galaxy or the floral/piney/slightly oil character I'd expect from Cascade. Hop profile underwhelms.
This was my last-ditch attempt to love a beer in the ultimately underwhelming Australian "mid / Pacific/ 3.5% ABV" market segment given I've dug the other beers I've had from this brewery, and I have to say it also falls short. Are session pale ales this underwhelming anywhere else in the world?
That said, it is slightly better than its peers, but why are Australian breweries making these neutered 3.5% beers at all?
