Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours dark brown with a frothy cocoa brown head that settles to a light layer and leaves a little spotty lacing.

S: Roasted malt, slightly toasty, plenty of milk chocolate, coconut, slightly earthy, faint spice, and some toffee sweetness.

T: Roasty, lots of milk chocolate, earthy, slightly herbal, a little spice, toffee sweetness, and a nice hit of coconut that really comes out as it warms, especially on the finish.

M: A bit on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation,

O: Solid milk stout with some personality. Coconut isn't overpowering or unnatural.

Been getting into milk stouts lately. They're popular in the rockies. Came back home and found this one, which has to be the best coconut beer I have had yet.

I have to agree with our good friend Raul that this one's dark silky sweetness is quite reminiscent of the beautiful Aubrey Plaza. Unlike he, on the other hand, I find each of them unabashedly sultry.

L: Pours with a dark brown, medium-thin body. A ruby glow outlines the edges near the glass. Light penetrates about an inch of the liquid, but not more. The head starts off as a thick cap of silky mocha foam, slowly breaking down into larger bubbles, ending with mostly large suds the color of the ice at the bottom of a cola. Thin lines of lacing are present, but sparse.

S: A very simple aroma here; milk chocolate, coconut, and barley malt. Super clean, mellow and fresh.

T: Flavor follows suit. There's such a light sweetness to this, but also such a light creaminess, and an even lighter roast bitterness. It's such a delicate measure of each flavor, it seems as though it should taste too bland to enjoy, but it doesn't. It's just really mellow and balanced.

F: And that silky feel. So fluffy and light. It's pretty dry for a milk stout. Not syrupy at all.

O: Perhaps I understand now why Raul was so perplexed. I don't often like "mellow" beers. I would expect to find this one boring, but I don't. Hmm..

Sweet stout aromatics on this one. Taste follows with subdued coffee and chocolate notes that finishes with an also subdued coconut vibe. I had to search for it, though. I think I would have rated it higher if the coconut was a little more forward and distinct.

What a weird beer. I took three solid sips in a row, yet like that Aubrey Plaza chick, I didn’t know what to make of it. It’s hella clean (like Aubrey). The feel is hella silky (like Aubrey). aAnd your basic Sweet Stout taste is there - but that’s along with a huge coconut essence (I dunno if that’s like Aubrey).

Good. Real good that I keep on sippin’. But it’s also just slightly perplexing.

Yep!

they nailed this. i know coconut is now in so many stouts and porters, it has really become fashionable over the past few years, but this is one of the best uses of it i have seen in one of these. its natural, potent, and well timed in here, rising up right after the rich roasted barley, a dark and a light there thats really brilliant. i get some dark chocolate here in the malt, and with the coconut and the milk sugar its kind of desserty, but like, not kids desserty, like high end adult desserty, like bitter chocolate and natural coconut, not a sweetened thing at all, and in fact this is quite dry for having lactose in it, which is a feature of it that i absolutely love. its like a dry cocoa thing without the sugar behind it, the lactose seems to just fluff up the body and smooth it out without making this sugary, its awesome! faint char or smoke, a little milk chocolate, and the fleshy natural coconut there all the way through the finish, smooth and slick feeling, rich but never sweet, incredible really, and a scray easy drinking pint of beer, i must have put one down in just a couple of minutes. the flavor here is amazing, fantastic use of the coconut, and another next level beer from beachwood, who is constantly impressing me lately!

A: Mild grain with chocolate like notes, the beer is lightly sweet, reminiscent of milk chocolate, coupled with moderately high coconuts.

A: Black, totally opaque, with an tannish moderate head that has adequate retention.

T: Lots of chocolate flavor, moderate sweetness, coupled with roasty coconuts.

M: Medium-light bodied, creamy and full-tasting with moderately light carbonation

O: Tasty; the beer has a great sweet stout base and the addition of coconuts, is reminiscent of a liquid Almond Joy.
