these guys do awesome funky beer, i love the ones ive had over the years, and was pumped to find a bottle last night at a cool pub in reno, cracked it with my wife on the spot. its got a gorgeous rose red color and a lot of clarity, just trace sediment in the bottom quarter inch of the bottle, but a lovely glow to it. it curiously without much head even when we pour hard, and even though its got some big bubbles in it keeping it active enough feeling, they dont stay in suspension real well and this feels a touch thin because of it, but thats being critical, and the rest of this experience is wonderful, cherries and raspberries together, both boldly dosed and to me about in equal parts, a bit jammy and slightly sweet, but tart too, mouthwatering pucker, a little less wild funk than i have known in some of their others but a nice mix of fermentation elements, plenty of wood too, but this is all about the fruit. the flavor is juicy and both the cherries and the raspberries hit at the same time. its sour but its not bracing, its twangy and piquant without being limiting, some tartness from the raspberries is there too, pie cherry sweetness, subtle strawberry too, a rhubarb note, red wine woodiness, light vanilla, some sugar in it for sure. its a little bit palate coating and doesnt quite finish as funky and wild as i think i wanted it to, and it could definitely use better carbonation, but still, its hard not to be impressed with this. really fruit forward and good, a neat blend with some older beer in it, these guys kill it with this sort of thing, and im stoked to have been able to get into this!
