Clear dark golden colour with a smooth white head. Fair head retention and some good lacing.

Crisp hoppiness with a touch of fruit and some light caramel malts. Very good.

Big, hoppy bitterness with a nice mild malt character. Citrussy hops balance out the flavour. Nice.

Medium light body with moderate carbonation. Crisp and very refreshing.

A great sessionable ale with big hoppy flavour that belies it’s small size.

Ambition over at Beachwood BBQ must be higher than I though, cuz now they're brewing beer! And Reckless sounds like a good introduction. On-tap at the Seal Beach locale, on to the beer:

The creamy head on top is thickish and quite sturdy on top of the copper colored body. Crisp and clean and green are the hops in the nose with a little backbone of toasted malt.

The hops are strong in character, but never overpowering or one-dimension. The caramel and toasted malts provide a good canvas to enhance the hoppiness. Pineapple is even noted. Medium bodied but still very easy to put back.

No question that Reckless Session Ale is a more than satisfying ale. With its easy drinkability, let's hope that it doesn't cause me to drink recklessly the next time I revisit it.

On-tap at Beachwood I,

A: Pours a dark gold with a very long-lasting creamy white head, good lace for the style.

S: Fairly light nose, but some nice floral meadow notes, honeysuckle.

T: Nice mix of hop flavours, grapefruit and pineapple with some pine. Quite floral at times as with the nose which I liked. Malt is very light.

M: Crisp and smooth with lush carbonation. Quite creamy due to this.

O: While I wasn't as big a fan of this as the other 2 Beachwood beers I've had, it's still quality stuff and well made.

Brought home a growler last night from the new brew pub in Long Beach.

Poured into snifter with a decent sized off-white head, over a chill-hazed golden body. Head fades to steady ring with tons of unexpected sticky lacing.

Aromas are clean, featuring leather, flowers, and grass.

Flavors include tea leaves, noble hops, horseblanket, and lemon grass.

Mouthfeel is quite dry, giving it a really refreshing quality.

Overall, it's clean, refreshing, and easy to drink. A winner.... even if it IS a screwed up beer by the brewmaster. Can he replicate it?

A: The pour is a lightly hazed orange color with a couple fingers of white head.

S: Nice citrus hops up front with some floral and lightly grassy notes, too. Bready malts and a slight toast note. There's a hint of pine in there, too. A nice hoppy nose, overall.

T: A somewhat light flavor, but good citrus peel, especially grapefruit and orange. Light grass and some pine bitterness. The base of it is bready malts.

M: Light to medium in body with a medium carbonation.

O: Really an easy to drink, light, hoppy beer.
