Dark brownish red color with ample foam in the chalice. Woodsy aroma with some mulch and herbs. Pleasantly spritzy on the tongue. There is some sugar to start. This is actually difficult to taste since it immediately becomes so bitter as to befuddle the taste buds. That plus the murky, dark, dirty, woody qualities make this undrinkable. Overall, this is the least likeable of any beer I've had from Beachwood. From the 16 oz can purchased at O'Shea Brewing. Dated 10/04/24.

On tap at the pub – Long Beach, CA
Notes taken from 06/03/14 – Taster from flight

A: Light crimson color that actually takes on more brownish hues with some red tones than anything. Really fine clarity to this one. Thin layer of khaki cream holds firmly eventually slipping out to a mere crown. Tiny dots and a few splashes of lace decorate the glass on the way down.

S: Malty biscuit is pronounced with some light toffee and more toasted bread than anything else here. I get some soft underpins of earthy hops to the nose but this is more about the malts. Very fresh clean aromas I will add.

T: Toasted bread and biscuit predominantly with some subtle toffee like sweetness. Earthy hops are present with a very mild orange citrus character to it. There is a low level of actual bitterness to the beer and no alcohol to report in flavor. Nice dryness towards the finish. Well balanced and quite drinkable but a bit run of the mill for me.

M: The mouth feel is light to moderate with a nice creamy texture to it. There is a low amount of actual bitterness on the palate and the beer finishes with a nice drying sensation. Very clean overall.

D: This is a more traditional malt forward red. And I must say it is well balanced which makes for a nice sessions but I guess I was just hoping for a the amped up American style Red here. Nothing against it or the traditional style but Beachwood makes such awesome hoppy beers here that the potential is there for something much more killer. Glad I only opted for a taster.
