On Tap

Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA

Clear copper and amber with a small near-white head that leaves the glass messy with lined lacing.

Herbal and piney aroma, along with some caramel sweetness, floral elements, and just a hint of booze.

The flavor is similar to the aroma, though with a fairly high, simple bitterness muddling up the other flavors. It's good, bitter, and somewhat simple.

Medium bodied with moderate-high carbonation.

Good, but somewhat simple and one-note. Not one of Julian's finest hop-forward beers.

On tap at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.

Pours a slightly murky honey orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, honey, malt, and some slight onion aromas as the beer warms. Taste is much the same but the onion comes out more in the taste. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp but slightly sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but the onion flavors I am getting are a bit off putting.
