On-tap at Beachwood I,
A: Pours a reddish umber with a light off-white head which has solid retention, some nice lace, better than spotty.
S: Nice notes of dark fruit, dried plums, dates, brown sugar, reminds me somewhat of Prior 8.
T: Heavy on the candi sugar type flavours. Has a cloying molasses like sweetness, the dried fruits help to round it out, but it's still a bit disjointed.
M: A medium-bodied brew, too crisp with carbonation for my taste in a dubbel, I like the softer true Belgian approach. Bit of cloying sugar, though it finishes drier than what I would have thought it would by my initial impressions.
O: A middle of the road American dubbel. I've had problems finding great examples of this style made stateside, this one is just OK.

Pours a hazy dark reddish-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, spices, and dark fruits. Taste is much the same with a fruity flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty but smells better in my opinion.
